What the RDAs do

Creating opportunities for work is of key importance to RDAs. In the last full financial year, RDAs Created job for nearly 90,000 people - as many as live in Burnley, Worcester or Eastbourne.

Managing Crises in Burnley and Wigan

Last year the Northwest Regional Development Agency secured 600 jobs and created an additional 30, following the closure of Michelin in Burnley and Ingersoll Rand in Wigan, which saw small supplier manufacturing companies in the area lose up to 60% of their workload.

The NWDA responded quickly to help these failing businesses; each company was approached within days of hearing about the closure and then engaged in an analysis of their needs. They were offered a range of help, advice, and funding, specifically aimed at individual requirements.
