RDAs welcome Foster review of HE

RDA statement on Sir Andrew Foster’s review of the future role of Further Education Colleges Commenting on the findings of Sir Andrew Foster's review of the future of FE Colleges, Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive of the Northwest Regional Development Agency, the lead RDA on Skills, said: "Sir Andrew's report sets out the potential and challenges for the Further Education (FE) sector in providing the training and skills needed for the workforce of the 21st century. “Regional Development Agencies welcome his findings. FE colleges and other training providers play a major role in ensuring that individuals and employers have the skills needed to drive forward economic success and increased productivity. ”RDAs are particualrly determined to strengthen vocational provision across schools, colleges and HE to increase the employability and workforce effectiveness of both young people and adults. “Working with training providers through our Regional Skills Partnerships, RDAs are well positioned to inform and advise on the provision of specialist skills training to meet the needs of new business investments and employment opportunities in the regions. “The capacity, capability, quality and relevance of provision in FE is a key driver to increased economic prosperity. RDAs welcome the opportunity to help ensure the appropriate supply of skills both now and in the future."
