Strategic leadership

The RDAs have a vision to drive economic prosperity in each region.

To achieve this, each RDA leads the development of a Regional Economic Strategy (RES) with a wide range of regional partners, including local businesses, government, universities, community and volunteer groups.

Based on clear evidence, the RDAs look at what drives economic growth across their entire region and work with local authorities to translate national and regional demands into local action. RDAs engage closely with the private sector in setting the overall strategy and investment priorities, as well as promoting a strong delivery role for business, ensuring business expertise drives ambitions for success.

In the future, the Government has proposed that RDAs bring together economic development with planning, housing and transport into a single integrated strategy. This provides a real opportunity to generate greater prosperity across England.
