Who We Are
England’s Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) were first launched in 1999, with the London Development Agency following in 2000.
Their mission is to spread economic prosperity and opportunity to everyone in the nine regions of England. The RDAs take a business-led approach and bring vitality and expertise to the task of economic development and regeneration in the regions.
RDAs work closely with businesses, local authorities, universities and other organisations to agree priorities for economic development. This combines the RDAs’ technical expertise with the views of the local community, ensuring each region makes the most of opportunities for economic growth. RDAs work to deliver a range of programmes and projects in line with these priorities which support businesses and make lasting improvements in the economic performance of their regions.
RDAs’ regional role enables them to implement cost effective and evidence-based programmes and projects. These are helping to drive growth and ensure international competitiveness for each region’s economy.
